 Summary of Requirements

Involvement of a licensed physician or medical authority in the AED program is required to ensure compliance with training, notification, and maintenance. Acquirers of AEDs must ensure users receive CPR and AED training from organizations like the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Notify the emergency communications district or ambulance dispatch center about the AED's location. Maintain and test the AED according to the manufacturer's guidelines. In the case of cardiac arrest, activate the emergency medical services system promptly.

the site's AED program to ensure compliance with training, notification,
and maintenance.
AED-Check.jpg CPR/AED Training A person or entity who acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall ensure that expected defibrillator users receive training by the
American Red Cross or American Heart Association in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators, or an
equivalent nationally recognized course in defibrillator use and
cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
AED-Check.jpg EMS Notification Any person or entity who acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall notify the emergency communications district or the ambulance
dispatch center of the primary provider of emergency medical services
where the automated external defibrillator is to be located.
AED-Check.jpg Maintenance Program A person or entity who acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall ensure that the defibrillator is maintained and tested according
to the manufacturer's operational guidelines.
AED-Check.jpg Notification of Use Any person who renders emergency care or treatment on a person in
cardiac arrest by using an automated external defibrillator shall
activate the emergency medical services system as soon as possible.
