 Summary of Requirements

Medical oversight is mandatory. Authorized AED operators must receive approved training in CPR and AED use before use. Coordination with the local emergency medical service providing services in the AED's area is essential. Provide a plan and written notice to licensed emergency medical services and emergency dispatch centers, including AED program details and coordination procedures. A written plan for AED use, specifying placement and authorized operators, is necessary. Maintain, test, and operate the AED following the manufacturer's guidelines and keep records. In cardiac arrest cases, summon emergency medical services and report AED use as per the written plan's requirements.
