 Summary of Requirements

Involvement of a licensed physician is required to ensure compliance. Those acquiring an AED must ensure users hold a current certification in CPR and AED use from recognized organizations. Notify the appropriate emergency medical services provider of the AED acquisition and its location. Maintain and test the defibrillator according to the manufacturer's guidelines. In case of use, request emergency medical assistance promptly from the appropriate first aid, ambulance, or rescue squad.

AED-Check.jpg CPR/AED Training A person or entity that acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall ensure that any person, prior to using that defibrillator, has
successfully completed and holds a current certification from the
American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other training program
recognized by the Department of Health and Senior Services in
cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of a defibrillator.
AED-Check.jpg EMS Notification A person or entity that acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall notify the appropriate first aid, ambulance or rescue squad or
other appropriate emergency medical services provider that the person or
entity has acquired the defibrillator, the type acquired and its
location.
AED-Check.jpg Maintenance Program A person or entity that acquires an automated external defibrillator
shall ensure that the defibrillator is maintained and tested according
to the manufacturer's operational guidelines.
AED-Check.jpg Notification of Use Any person who uses a defibrillator shall request emergency medical
assistance from the appropriate first aid, ambulance or rescue squad as
soon as practicable.
