A physician consultation is required for compliance. A person with an AED should encourage expected users to complete an approved course in AED and CPR. EMS notification is optional, but the AED must be maintained and tested as per the manufacturer's guidelines. In case of use, activate the emergency medical services system promptly.

Summary of Requirements
	Physician	Must consult with a physician regarding compliance with the requirements.
	CPR/AED Training	A person who possesses an automated external defibrillator shall encourage expected users to complete successfully a course in automated external defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation that is offered or approved by the American heart association or another nationally recognized organization.
	EMS Notification	A person who possesses an automated external defibrillator may notify an emergency medical services organization of the location of the defibrillator.
	Maintenance Program	Must maintain and test the defibrillator according to the manufacturer's guidelines;
	Notification of Use	An emergency medical services system shall be activated as soon as possible.
